How to Get from Phuket Airport to Phuket Town

Posted in Uncategorized
Phuket International Airport for travelers heading to Phuket Town

The most straightforward ways to get from Phuket International Airport to Phuket Town are the orange Airport Bus route 8411, an airport taxi or EV taxi, a limousine service, or Grab. The best choice depends on your arrival time, luggage, budget and whether you want a direct door-to-door transfer.

If you are staying at Blu Monkey Hub & Hotel Phuket, the official hotel site lists Phuket Bus Terminal 1 at 450 m and Thalang Road and Soi Romanee at 800 m. That makes Phuket Town a practical arrival point if your plan is Old Town exploring, a short city stay or a work-friendly base.

Option 1: Airport Bus 8411 to Phuket Town

Airport Bus Phuket operates route 8411 between Phuket International Airport and Phuket Town. The operator describes the bus as orange and says it runs every day. Tickets can be purchased on the bus, with cash or QR payment accepted by the conductor.

The airport’s transport page says passengers should go to Exit 3, turn left and follow the signs to the public transport parking area. The route ends at Phuket Bus Terminal 1 in town.

The operator’s fare table and FAQ list the airport-to-Bus Terminal 1 fare as 100 Thai baht per passenger, with an approximate travel time of 1 hour 15 minutes. The published timetable shows airport departures from 6:30 through 22:30, with Bus Terminal 1 arrivals from 7:45 through 23:40. Always re-check the operator’s timetable close to your travel date because public transport schedules can change.

This option works well if:

  • You arrive during bus operating hours.
  • You are travelling light enough to manage your bags.
  • You are comfortable ending at Bus Terminal 1, then walking or taking a short local transfer.
  • You prefer a low-cost public option over a private ride.

It may not be ideal if you arrive late, carry heavy luggage, travel with young children, or want door-to-door convenience.

Option 2: Taxi, EV taxi or limousine

Airports of Thailand lists taxi meter/EV taxi and limousine among Phuket Airport’s transport options. These are better choices if you want a direct ride to your hotel, arrive outside the bus schedule, or have luggage that would make the bus inconvenient.

A direct vehicle is also simpler if this is your first time in Phuket and you do not want to navigate a transfer after a long flight. Before you get in, confirm the destination clearly as Phuket Town and show your hotel address. Blu Monkey Hub & Hotel Phuket lists its address as 3 Soi 3 Phangnga Road, Taladyai, Muang, Phuket 83000.

Option 3: Grab or app-based ride

The Phuket Airport arrival guide lists Grab among the transport options. This can be convenient if you already use the app and prefer to confirm your destination on your phone. Check the pick-up instructions inside the app after you arrive, because meeting points and airport rules can change.

Grab is often useful for travelers who want a private ride but prefer app-based destination entry and payment records. It is less useful if mobile data is not working yet or if surge pricing makes the fare unattractive.

What not to confuse with the Phuket Town bus

Phuket Smart Bus is also listed by the airport, but its route serves the west-coast side of the island, including areas such as Cherngtalay, Surin Beach, Kamala, Patong, Karon, Kata and Rawai. That is useful for beach destinations, but it is not the direct Phuket Town choice.

For Phuket Town, look for Airport Bus Phuket route 8411 to Bus Terminal 1.

Which option should you choose?

Choose the airport bus if you arrive during operating hours, want the lower-cost route and are happy to finish at Bus Terminal 1. Choose a taxi, EV taxi, limousine or Grab if you want a direct hotel drop-off, arrive late, or have luggage that makes public transport awkward.

If your first day includes Old Town exploring, it can help to keep the arrival simple. Drop your bags, settle in, then use your first afternoon or evening for a short walk, local food or a relaxed look around the area.

For city-planning context after arrival, read the Where to Stay in Phuket Town guide or the Phuket Old Town Walking Guide.

Arrival checklist

Before you travel, check three things:

  • Your flight arrival time against the latest Airport Bus 8411 timetable.
  • Your hotel address and map link.
  • Whether you want the lowest-cost route or the easiest door-to-door ride.
